What is Pilates? Pilates is a series of exercises that focus on your core strength, on the deep internal muscles of you abdomen and back. Each exercise is performed slowly so that you can focus on your breathing and muscle control. In our Edinburgh studio we concentrate on matwork which means each exercise is done on a padded mat on the floor.
What are the benefits of Pilates?
The aim of the Pilates is to improve your core strength which leads to a body that is more stable so that you can move more freely and easily.

I'm not sure if Pilates is for me
Pilates is for all body types and levels of fitness.
It is particularly popular with seniors, expectant mums as well as elite athletes. If you are new to exercise and just beginning or returning to exercise from a break or perhaps an injury, Pilates is ideal for you too. Pilates suits all body types and level of fitness precisely because each exercise is adaptable and can be modified to be safe, but still challenging, for you.
If you do have an injury or are trying Pilates as a remedy for back or neck pain it is best to work with a certified instructor who can oversee your movements and modify them in line with your needs.
Don't worry if you haven't been to a class before, our certified instructors will talk you through every step of every exercise. If you are coming along for the first time, wear clothing that you can move comfortably in.

We have Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute trained instructors who run both classes and one to one sessions. Because we're certified Pilates instructors and qualified physiotherapists we really understand the human body and can suggest the best exercises and moves to help address your symptoms and make your day to day living more comfortable.
Where and when
We offer Pilates classes in Edinburgh from our city centre studio and run 30 min classes at lunchtime and slightly longer sessions in the early evening. Our instructors are also available for private one to one Pilates classes.
